Today's study saw me go through Isaiah chapter 28 to 30. It is very interesting some of the things I picked from these 3 chapters. I saw warning, judgment and unconditional love all demonstrated in this chapter. One thing that really got me through this study was Counsel. This led me to ask myself the simple question:
Who is the source of your Counsel?
This question dawned on me after reading verse 1 of chapter 28
[1] “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the LORD,
“Who take counsel, but not of Me,
And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit,
That they may add sin to sin; [Isaiah 30:1 NKJV]
I think most of us will agree that God is often the last resort when we have issues. We only look his way when help from other means have failed. Even in the major decisions of our life, we ignore him and seek counsel from our fellow human beings. We ignore his counsel and guidance and most at times, some the plans we make are not of his spirit but of the flesh and its desires. So we ignore his counsel of right judgment and keep on sowing deeper into the flesh and sin.
And to think He knows the beginning from the end. He should be the first person we should run to for counsel but no. We choose to run to a fellow human being who has their own issues they cannot even handle to counsel you on what they know very little of themselves. I watched a movie one time and a married woman had issues in her marriage and went to a friend of hers for advice. This friend of hers was divorced and had numerous boyfriends and that was the kind of person she decided to go to for advice on an issue like that. This was so funny and I ask myself what kind of advice could this friend possibly give her? I doubt if it will be anything good to be honest.
We have a God who is perfect in counsel and guidance.
[29] This also comes from the LORD of hosts,
[Who] is wonderful in counsel [and] excellent in guidance. [Isaiah 28:29 NKJV]
He is more than willing to give us the right counsel and the guidance we need on basically everything. But we ignore him and go to the wrong people, places for counsel and guidance. Why take such risks? If only we will trust in the Lord and approach him for counsel, hear what the word says will happen:
[21] Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This [is] the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left. [Isaiah 30:21 NKJV]
The Lord will basically order every step you take. How beautiful and wonderful is that. To walk knowing he is ordering your steps. That takes you to a high place of confidence and boldness knowing nothing can go wrong. I don't know about you but that is certainly a place I want to be.
LET US PRAY
Father, thank you for your word and the understanding thereof. We bless you your love and kindness towards us. LORD you know our hearts. Forgive us for ignoring your counsel and running after the counsel of others. We are deeply sorry and we ask that you forgive us. And from this moment, we ask that you help us to walk in your counsel Father. Guide our every step and lead us in the way that we should go. Amen
