When I moved to Manila from my hometown, I consciously and intentionally built my walls higher, especially at work. I would refuse hanging out with colleagues outside work and generally didn't try building a personal relationship with them. This was a thing I programmed myself to doing after leaving my first workplace, where I built deep friendships with my colleagues. It was so hard and heartbreaking to be apart from them, and as an immature and young version of me, I didn't want to experience that again.
But for some reason, there were some who were able to slowly make cracks to that solid wall I was taking care of. I remember that time when I first went out with my first colleagues in Manila. They invited me to go to a milk tea shop one weekend, and as usual, I initially refused. But they were so persistent that I ended up going. Haha. From then on, I started spending more and more time with them, even after we all left our previous workplace. And you know, the rest is history.
We may not see or talk to each other as often as before, but in some ways, we still get to experience life together. We celebrate each other's milestones and embrace each other's ups and downs.
In our recent meet-up, it wasn't just us anymore. We already have babies in our circle! It's crazy to think that two among us are already in their motherhood stage. I mean, who would have thought, right?
Despite all these big changes we faced, I can say that nothing really changed when it comes to our dynamics. We still laugh at the same antics and jokes or make fun of each other. Haha The only difference is that we now have little boys to look after during our dinner dates or that we would now watch kids shows on TV when hanging out at home. Haha
I am excited to know how else our lives would have shifted the next time we would hang out together. Haha Love you, friends and babies!
Stay sane and safe!
Let's spread happiness.
