Hello, fellow Hivers! I am so excited to share with you that I recently released by 4th crochet pattern! I honestly couldn't believe that in a span of 4-5 months, I got to release 4 written crochet patterns already. I mean, wow. I am truly grateful to everyone who keeps on encouraging and inspiring me to keep on creating.
My recent design was named, Merideth. Honestly, when I started working on this project, I had an entirely different design in mind. But as the rows progressed, more design inspirations came as well. It started to confuse me on what I really wanted. Haha I I debated with myself whether to push through with the original plan or transition to the new design idea. Well... obviously, the latter won. Haha.
The design for Merideth was inspired by the dresses usually found in the wardrobe of a 90’s little girl. Yknow, those cute little dresses with puffy sleeves, back zipper, and waist tie. Haha I kept the closed back and waist tie, but made the sleeves… non-puffy (sorry! vocab shortage here haha). My favorite part about this design is probably the waist tie! It is such a subtle way of highlighting the waist!
Aside from the design inspo, another special part of this design was the process. While working on it, I wanted to give myself a challenge, just because. Haha So I decided on a “Just One Challenge.” This challenge meant I was only allowed to use just one yarn cake, just one hook size, and just one stitch type althroughout the project! It was challenging, as it was tempting to switch hook sizes and stitch when I reached the peplum part, but definitely worth the self-control. Haha
When it comes to the name, it took me a looong time before I settled with Merideth. I had two choices in mind, and I couldn’t decide which one fits the design more. In the end, Merideth clung to me more. I mean, this design does look like a Merideth, right? Haha The name, Merideth, means, great ruler. Ready to rule the world? Haha kidding!
