Anneyeong! Haha. Hello again, everyone!
When 2021 started, I decided to spare a space in my journal where I could jot down the shows I watched and books I read for the entire year. Part of me knew that I would get to watch a number of shows, but I didn't foresee that I would need a bigger space for the list.
To summarize, I read 16 books and watched 79 shows!!! HAHAHA I was so surprised when I counted. lol. what is Social Skills.
In this post, I will focus on my Top 10 Kdramas for 2021.
Disclaimer: These shows were not neccessarily published on 2021. It just happened that I watched them on the said year. This may or may not have spoilers, but I will try my best not to have any. Hehe
Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol
This was the first Korean series I watched last year. I didn't know the male lead then, but I like the female lead, Go Ah Ra, and that was a big reason why I watched this show.
It has been a year, so I could no longer recall a lot of details. But in a nutshell, Rara, the female lead, was a pianist, who faced difficulties when her father passed away. And while in a run for an escape, she accidentally had an encounter with Sun Woo Joon.
The entire series was fun and quite light. I almost gave it a 10/10 rate in my head, but I wasn't super happy with how the ending turned out, so I gave it a 9 instead. Haha But I did enjoy this series a lot!
Dr. Romantic 1 & 2
This series is crazy cool! Amongst all the medicine-related Korean series I've watched, this is by far my favorite! I don't know how accurate their medical practices were, as I am no medicine-person, but they did make it look sooo real. The storyline and the characters were just...perfect. I would have given it a 10/10, but the villain stressed me out, so 9 nalang. Hahah But damn, friend. Watch both. Haha
Nevertheless
This show caught my attention because I am used to Korean shows being conservative. So when I read the synopsis that it is about two friends with benifits, I got intrigued. Haha. It's so cool, too, that they were able to make the scenes look so intimate without making it too vulgar. And oh! The soundtrack is awesome.
Hospital Playlist 2
I was so happy when Hospital Playlist 2 was released! I have been waiting for this for (almost) a year!!! It is in a medical field but with a different approach. They focused more on the personal lives of the doctors outside the cases they are handling, which is pretty cool. There is a life outside any profession, yknow. I love each character, most especially Song Hwa. Aaaaa unni.
Squid Game
Well... ummm. Who doesn't know Squid Game? Haha It made a noise for a time, and I am not really fond of watching shows at its heightened moment, so I watched this later than majority. Haha
Honestly, this series was quite too much/brutal for my liking, but I liked the concept of the show. The scenes were not exaggerated, but could still make you heart either stop or beat fast. And maaaan, they know how or when to attack people's emotions! Such a roller coaster ride.
Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
Aaaaaaaaa!!! One of the cutest Kdrama, so far!!! It's so nice how every character had their own story to tell. It was like a breath of fresh air. If you are looking for a light show with lots of emotions involved, watch this!
Save Me
Ohhh. This one was quite a surprise for me. I thought that it is a typical drama about friends and potential lovers, but turned out, it a thriller/mystery!!! The feels of the show was a bit eerie, which made the whole journey more exciting. Add this to your To Watch list, if you haven't watched it yet!
Move to Heaven
In the show, Move to Heaven was a business run by a father and his son. They clean up and arrange the things that deceased people left. I never knew that such job exists! Watching this show would make you reflect and appreciate life and people more.
Hi, Bye Mama
I feel like Hi, Bye Mama didn't get enough attention that it deserves. Guys. This drama series is sooo good. Huhu If you would want to have a good cry but doesn't want people to know your misery, this could be your excuse. Haha. I swear, this show will make your eyes puff.
Sweet Home
I like all the shows in this list, but Sweet Home is my ultimate favorite!!! Even I, was surprised, because I am not really fond of action movies or series. I swear, it is a must-watch. From the story line to the charaters to its soundtrack, everything just clicked! I don't know what else to say, but it is really an awesome series. Definitely a 10/10 for me!
I hope that this list will somehow help you in choosing the next show that you'll watch. If you have watched some of them, please share your thoughts, too! And if you have other kdrama recommendation, feel free to drop a comment below.
Stay sane and safe!
Let's spread happiness.
