COVID-19 #FUD is legion. What is missing is true scientific research, published and available to all on the Internet.

China, especially the Wuhan area, is renowned for its pollution, its seasonal peaking of tuberculosis at the calendar year end, high numbers of smokers, its poor elderly population, etc.

A Slate article (https://slate.com/technology/2020/03/coronavirus-mortality-rate-lower-than-we-think.amp) makes several valuable points, not the least of which is that the Diamond Princess cruise outbreak and subsequent quarantine off the coast of Japan is, perhaps, the closest thing to a scientific study we have.

"Of the 3,711 people on board, at least 705 have tested positive for the virus (which, considering the confines, conditions, and how contagious this virus appears to be, is surprisingly low). Of those, more than half are asymptomatic ..."

These were all people healthy enough to travel.

"... six deaths have occurred among the passengers ..." and "Not a single Diamond Princess patient under age 70 has died."

"These patients were likely exposed repeatedly to concentrated viral loads (which can cause worse illness). Some treatments were delayed. So even the lower CFR found on the Diamond Princess could have been even lower, with proper protocols."

Bear in mind, there are no known deaths among children ten or younger.

These statistics have more in common with tuberculosis than flu.

I'm not trivializing COVID-19; but, there is a lot going on here warranting more true scientific research than panic.
