Lassa fever is a virus which is caused by Lassa virus (rat), which is very harmful to the body system, the Lassa virus includes fever, weakness, headaches, vomiting, and muscle pains. This virus is risks and can lead to death within 14 days. My purpose of writing this article is because of the death rate of Lassa fever in Nigeria.
Lassa fever was first to discover in the state of Borno in the year 1969 in a town called Lassa, for the town lassa the disease name was gotten from.
When the virus is contacted the person infected will have the range of 6-21 days to live and have feeling different Symptoms of Lassa fever which include headache, sore throat, muscle pain, chest pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, cough, and abdominal pain may follow.
The virus can be infected when ever a person is an exposure to urine or infected rats, the virus could be contracted through infected human direct contact with the blood, urine, faeces, or other bodily of a person infected with Lassa fever.
Rodents and rats are the main carriers of the disease, so we should keep the environment clean to make sure there will not be any Rodents and rats in the house hold. When ever you come across with a direct contact with an infected person, ensure to wash your hand and visit the hospital for medical check up.
