Is Resident Evil still delivering?

I used to play Nemesis and Resident Evil 2 as a kid, back then story was really good and puzzles enough demanding so it took a while to loop the game.

From this video it feels more like FPS version is a completely different game, and not the stuff that it was (Doom is a great example of this phenomenon)
