It's IQ as far as I can tell. Ashkenazi Jews have a higher intelligence than other population groups and in particular maths and verbal IQ so therefore on average they are more successful throughout generations than other groups. The CEO in my work is self made multi millionaire and is Jewish, and that didn't surprise me at all. He's clearly intelligent and able to attract billions in investment to the company, and the only way to that is being intelligent across the broad spectrum of IQ.

The Wikipedia article above also explains that Jews overtime could only do certain jobs and were banned from other jobs. It happened the jobs they were allowed to do helped kick start their success, business and financial related jobs. But you can't succeed over time if you aren't of good intelligence. A person of much lower IQ might be tricked out of their money or tricked into bad deals. This doesn't mean Ashkenazi Jews never failed it just means on average they succeeded to a higher degree more often than other population groups as far as I can tell.

Why are Jews disliked/hated over time?
I assume the hatred comes from Jews dominating in business and life because IQ is the biggest predictor of success.
And normal people might hate when others did better than them so they make up all sorts of bullshit to discredit the success. Or exaggerate things. If people of the same ethnic group are running the financial world and you are jealous you might try to tear them down.
Some Christians who hate on Jews say the Jews killed Jesus, because as the story goes they had a chance to release 1 prisoner and they chose Barabbas. If the Jews had saved Jesus and he wasn't crucified Christianity wouldn't exist as Jesus would never have died and risen from the dead if you believe that story.

I know the establishment of Israel and the continued conflict with Palestine is a very difficult situation to understand or take sides in. I'm hopeful there will be mutually agreed peace in the region sooner rather than later with both sides reasonably happy and able to prosper going forward.
But the dislike for Jews unfortunately is embedded into our history and sub cultures, in comedy and online forums etc. I don't think the reasoning for the hatred could ever be valid for a group's identity. I'm going to read more about it to understand the arguments however flawed about how the hatred came to be. Understanding where ideas come from can help better explain to folk why the deeply rooted ideas are flawed.
Hatred of all forms should end.
