It's midweek once again and a new month as well. October 1st was the Nigerian Independence day and as much as I don't like to talk too much about money issues with people, it's always bound to come up whenever you try to talk about the economy.
Independence day came and went and with it came another wave of discussions about the economy. One of which is how little children are living in bliss without knowing what's going on.
Your kid doesn't care whether the price of cereal or diapers has gone up, all he knows is that whenever he's hungry he cries and you have to wave the wand and magically produce the food.
Yesterday night one of my long distance cousin called and from the greetings you would know something was up.
When they start praising you more than necessary, know that you're up for some premium billing. In my case, it was a new wristwatch. After all the praises, he eventually told me why he called
My Lil Cousin: I've been trying to reach you for some time now but you've not been picking up.
Me: I've been good. Just busy trying to sort out a few things, you know how it is.
My Lil Cousin: I understand, I just wanted to remind you I'll be needing a wristwatch for the wedding coming up in December.
Me: (thinking a wristwatch sounds normal enough) Alright no problem, I'll get you one when I'm coming over.
My Lil Cousin: Thanks a lot sir. Errrm there's also this phone I want to .........
Me:(cuts in) The network is bad oo. I can't hear anything
I cut the call and he's called me about seven times since yesterday night. This boy doesn't know how hard things are right now.
Right now I'm in the hole for a new wristwatch by December when we'll all be meeting up for a wedding, I'm not about to add a new phone to it.
Still on the economy though, yesterday was national boyfriend day. At this point I'm not even sure who comes up with these things.
I mean one person sat down amidst all the stuff going on in the world and all they could come up with was October 3rd as boyfriend day.
Sincerely I would've appreciated a spell for magically vanishing all my problems instead of increasing it.
What was funny though was the apparent silence of the daughters of eve. Guys were calling out the ladies on social media to post the love of their lives, but it seems like most of the ladies phones got bad overnight.
Anyways I don't blame them, any trick to get out of a billing is welcome. I just hope no one calls my number come February 14th next year.
