Ladies of Hive, once again welcome to my blog. Well, if I get the opportunity and my fellow Hive sister or brother is planning a 3-day visit to my hometown, I will be so glad. It goes like this:
Day One
The first day will be a light welcome and a folk storytelling and songs session and the history of my hometown. That will help you relax and calm down from your previous journey as you are listening to the folktale which is blends with music 馃幍馃幎, the band, musical instruments like the drums, and you can see ladies, boys, and children dancing.
While you are relaxing and unwinding from your previous journey, you will be served our special delicacy, which is black soup and fresh okra soup with roasted fish. After that, she will take her rest.
Day Two
The second day, I will take her to my king鈥檚 palace to visit him and also seek his permission for me to show her how my culture is and how my hometown looks. So now, starting from the king鈥檚 palace, we have our elders, masks, and all the handicrafts, and after that, we will head straight to the river (Adi Gang Gang). It's a big river indeed and full of history and so many things like folktales as I have said. And from there, we go straight home where I will serve her a delicious dinner, which is made by me鈥攆resh fish pepper soup鈥攁nd I will let her take her shower and rest till the following day.
Day Three
The third day, today we will be heading to the market square, so we will book for a ship 馃殺 from my house to the market where she will get to see everything for herself鈥攁ll the fresh fish, yam, roasted fish, corn 馃尳. In fact, it's not just by name; indeed, we are the full food basket of the nation. We are the best. After all the walking around, then I will go and book another 馃殼 boat from the market to my house, and I will allow her to take a shower, and then I will serve her dinner (Orna and Orho Nobi).
Next thing, I will dress up in my traditional attire, and we will be heading to the king鈥檚 palace for the cultural dancing鈥攁 mixture of masquerade dancing, wonderfully! From there to the small market square to get blessings and pleasantries from the palace elders.
At the end of this visit, I am sure that you have not only experienced our culture and traditions, but also have a story and feel the connection and memory of my hometown. And I am certain that this memory will be with you for a lifetime.
This is my entry answering one of this week's Ladies of Hive community contests.
Thank you馃檹鉂o笍
