You can change your life, simply by opening your eyes and seeing things in a different way.
The old stories about climbing a mountain in the ice and snow to seek the knowledge of an enlightened being are not far off from the true nature of our reality, however, our perception is the only thing that really needs adjusting if we seek change in our lives.
Consider the story of the poor slave boy who was a fifth generation servant for a small mining operation. He was born into subservience as his parents and theirs, as far back as any one could remember, so it was just a natural thing for him to obey his master.
One day his old master died, and he was already the last of the people left to leave the operation. He did not know what to do, there was no one to tell him what to do and so he was struck dumb like rung bell.
The boy was strong, in the full fitness of his life, and he was free whether he knew it or not. Being that he was the only person there and still completely loyal to his master, he decided he would keep the mine operating just by himself. He rigged the ropes and descended into the black with his candle, a luxury for him.
That first day he began to find that the latest rains had exposed a large cavern deep in the mountain. To his amazement a million tiny sparkling gems reflected back pinpoints of light from his candle. This was a sign that things would or could, change for the boy. With a handful of the gems he could be one of the richest gentlemen, but he did not see things that way. To him, this was someone else's treasure, and he should obey his master and find his relatives and give it to them! And this is what he did.
Truth being told, the relatives were very happy to receive such a treasure from their old uncle, but they sold the mine land for some millions and drove away laughing at the poor boy, who was shirtless, shoeless, and desperate for something to eat, again.
Boys and girls out there, when you find the world giving you a chance to make yourself a better life, don't hesitate - take it!
Of course I don't mean stealing, but keep your eyes open all the time and be open to the world around you. You may just find a cavern of gems yourself...
