Currently, betel nut has become a commodity trading. Exports from Indonesia are directed to southern Asian countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Nepal. The major exporting countries are Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Myanmar.

The betel nut traded primarily is dried, intact (rounded) or split. In the importer countries the betel nut is processed into a kind of candy as a snack.
