When you were younger did you call shotgun and run for the car or did you take the back seat, buckle up and keep it moving?
I was a fighter. Coming from the younger child (and a younger sister), I had to be scrappy, so sometimes I’d just go for it. Team no fear, even though I'd usually end up being squished out of the seat or taken down by death stares... but I was there for it.
The point is, are you going to be someone who fights for what you want or not?
Here are the top shifts I see clients make when they go from a backseat buckle up to a shotgun rider with their health:
• STOP thinking they aren’t in control
• START realizing they have a voice in what their lifestyle looks like
• STOP doing whatever any doctor says
• START realizing you can ask questions (groundbreaking, I know)
• STOP trying anything that has been written down on a perscription pad
• START realizing that your treatment plan is YOURS. It is something to fit your life and help you, aka you get a say in it.
These aren’t crazy, wild things but what is crazy is how often we fall into the trap of auto-pilot and go through the motions of what others people decide for us.
Recognising your power to speak up, ask questions, try something new and even say no (shocker!) are some of the shifts that will put a little fight back in you!
