"See you next time" the teacher said, as he magestically left the class in calculated steps.
"Today is the day, I must walk up to her" I thought out loud. I stood up, shakily and headed towards Jennifer's desk.
The class went dead. So silent, the only sound I heard was my thumping heart. My chest grew heavier with every step.
She was writing. Suddenly she looked up as I approached and fixed her piercing eyes on me. My heart sank. Had she noticed what my intention was? Had she discovered how my fidgeting fingers rustled with the crumpled piece of paper in my breast pocket? The pocket closer to my heart.
I turned to leave, abandoning the mission like a thief who repented on his way to a crime and took a detour. I was about giving up like I have always done whenever I planned to face her.
But she held me as she stood to leave. And wordlessly slipped a paper into my hand; what she had been writing.
My heart quavered.
I opened it and it read,
"Please can we hang out ?"
