I was born in the time when my grandmother used a basket to go to the market, this basket had a cover and an iron rope that was used to open it, she had another basket that she used to go to her farm, I also used to see my grandfather with an iron trap that he would place in a bush and once there, grandfather would come home with bush meat.
Some of his friends would go fishing in the river with a traditional hock built with an aluminium frying pan, but these days, I feel that cultural beliefs of ours, some people are starting to throw it all away, the reason is what I don't know.
The only places where we can see the traditional item's of our ancestors are museums and some are still on the market, but people have turned their backs on them and only turn to them when the occasion calls for it.
I am grateful to some of those annual occasions that still make us see these traditional tools because if it were not for these occasions that we do annually, the new generation would not have had an idea about the tradition they belong to.
We see traditional objects in traditional marriages, and when a person attends a traditional marriage, he or she is able to tell where the bride or the broom comes from, and that is the essence of our culture.
I used to be surprised that some clans will celebrate new yam festival and others do not, but later I realised that the new yam festival is not one of the annual celebrations of the people, so it does not belong to their culture.

The reasons why I respect other people's beliefs is because what they believe can be related to the culture they belong to, and so I do not want to go against anyone's culture, but it is very advisable that if you are going to visit a new place you have not been to before, ask some questions about the way of life of the people who live in that particular destination so that, while you are visiting, you will never be a victim of circumstances.
Because the culture of the people may be common to a visitor but to the people to whom they belong, these people may treasure it very much and not joke about it.
