Oldest player always have the benefit of being the most trusted one.
Bitcoin is enjoying the same. There are other player in the market who are actually trying to give BTC some competition but they are still far behind.
But we also need diversity and choice and don't want this to be dominated by one. I hope other coins will pick the pace and catch up with Bitcoin.
