I am excited, hopeful and optimistic about block-chain based platforms like STEEMIT helping solve at least some of the problems that plague centralized offerings like YouTube, Facebook, Amazon etc. Hopefully this will result in a better outcome for considerations like privacy, balance, censorship, creativity and monetization.
Having said that, its worth keeping a bit of skepticism in reserve - while familiarizing oneself with this emerging technology, and watching how it plays out.
The outlook is certainly promising.
