Hi, Tasteemians! Today, and right now, as I am typing... I am at Shangri-la's Rasa Ria Resort and Spa, Kota Kinabalu. It is 20 minutes from where I stay. Instead of going to the city, I decided to visit resorts. After comparing Karambunai Nexus Resort to Shangri-la's Rasa Ria Resort, I'm sure you will like the latter one.
We demand comfort and quality in the bread and pastries that we wanna enjoy. My son, 
Ria Cafe - one of the four eateries in this resort, other than a Buffet Restaurant, Japanese Restaurant and Indian Restaurant.
Upon entering
Wow! We went inside and we couldn't take our eyes off the chiller.
Those muffins and cupcakes were looking delightful and gorgeous. I wanted to try all of them, such as coffee cupcake, mango mousse cake and raspberry mousse cake. Om-nom-nom!!!

I saw the snacks were mostly chips - imported from overseas! Some chips were local made!

Comfortable Dining Lobby
The service staff were helpful and informative. I asked them the types of berries used on the Danish that I ordered. They could answer me quickly. They were very clean and fast paced waitresses.
Food and Drink Indulgence
Currypuff RM10 (USD2.50)
The curry was spicy enough, really tasty with two types of potatoes (the potato and sweet orange-color potato, locally called 'ubi manis' in Malay). The pastry, most importantly, was light and crispy. Perfect!
Danish RM8.00 (USD2.00)
A croissant based, topped with custard and berries, they were gooseberry, red currants and strawberry. Indeed, a charming little dessert, though a bit dry, overall eaten was berry-ful. Yummy!
I couldn't let this go as it was calling to me... The fruit cup RM9.00 (USD2.20)
Mmm... Mixed fruits of purple and green grapes, pineapple, watermelon, honeydew and apple with Peppermint leaves! Quite fruitful...
The Cafe has books to read, and the sofas are comfy. Perfect for a short reading before I leave. My son was using the Apple computer with wifi connection. While waiting, I enjoyed my tea.
In conclusion
I seldom treat myself into this kind of luxury, so I'm happy to be here. And if you come to Sabah, you must come to visit this Resort too. The pastries and bakery certainly will impress you on the spot.
