Shortly after Jorge Lorenzo's move to Repsol Honda was unveiled, Ducati immediately announced the successor racer. He is Danilo Petrucci.
Lorenzo's departure to Honda left one vacant seat at Ducati. As rumors have evolved, Ducati chose Petrucci to accompany Andrea Dovizioso starting MotoGP next season.
Petrucci, currently strengthening the Ducati Pramac Racing satellite team, will race for the Ducati team in the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
"Being part of the manufacturer team is a real dream.Being an official rider for the Ducati team is an honor, especially for someone like me who started on Ducati as a motor test rider," Petrucci said as quoted by Crash.
During his time with Pramac since 2015, Petrucci has six podium finishes, four of which are finishing second.
"I want to give a warm welcome to Danilo that we want to see in the Ducati uniform next year," said Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali.
"Together with Andrea, who we believe will continue his rapid rise to success."
