A nice day In August 2018 we did a hike to a lake called Trollsjøen across the border to Sweden. The distance from the road to the lake in the bottom of the valley is 6 km.
Rissajaure, also called Trollsjön, is a lake in the Kärkevagge valley in Kiruna Municipality. It is the clearest and purest lake in Sweden and has a visual depth of 34 m, right down to the bottom. It is composed of meltwater from the surrounding glaciers. The lake is ice-covered well into the summer and is only ice-free for three months.
After around 2 km upphils we could see the bottom of the valley where the lake is located.
The road in the distance.
The hike is very popular as you can see on the well used trail.
Inward the valley there are lots of big rocks and stones.
First sight of the lake.
Last time I was here there was fog and not possible too look across the lake. It was nice to take the trip in warm summer sun.
One of the big rock formations in the valley.
If you are in the area I would recommend the hike to Trollsjøen.
This is one of my good memories from the summer 2019 in contrast to storm and heavy rain outside now in Januar.
Have a nice evening.
