EOS Back to the Drawing Board

Source: Reddit

EOS may be looking to rewrite its Constitution, barely a week after the launch of their mainnet. Following a rough start, co-founder Daniel Larimer says he has “learned a lot about human nature” through watching the week’s events unfold and wants to restructure the governance model so that arbitration is limited to interpreting the intent of smart contract code. He apparently has a blog post in the works to expand on his ideas. While it's unfortunate to see what was touted as an "experiment" be abandoned so quickly, it seems like an appropriate next step.

Bitcoin Cash has announced it will conduct a network stress test in early September in order to demonstrate both that the network can handle large amounts of transactions and that zero-confirmation transactions can be safely accepted. BitPico, a Twitter user, responded with his own foregone conclusion that the official stress test would be “faked,” and therefore that he/they plan to launch one of his/their own. BitPico, a Segwit2x supporter, has previously attacked the Lightning Network with success, and seems fairly confident he/they can produce the same outcome.

Lightning Network Sees Low Success Rates in Early Days

Source: The Next Web

Diar, a cryptocurrency research firm, has published a report which suggests that the Lightning Network is only capable of ensuring a 100% success rate for microtransactions - up to about 3 cents. At amounts of $5, the success rate drops to 50%, and as transactions approach $500, the rate drops again to about 1%. Of course, the Lightning Network is still in its infancy, and we would expect these rates to get better over time. The Lightning Network, who responded to the report with criticisms of the methodology, is working on ways to improve these probabilities, including routing technology enhancements and splitting large payments into smaller amounts.
