As we all define and accept that culture can is the total way of life as it depicts the lifestyle of some certain individuals or group of people either in a family, community or society. Culture tends to differ from one group to another.
One of the biggest culture shock I have ever experienced happens to be from the south-western part of Nigerian usually known as the Yorubas. They believe it is imperative for all men, guys and boys to always prostate on the floor whenever they intend to greet their elderly ones. This is one of the symbols or traits of respect from the Yoruba culture.
The astonishing part is that the igbo culture don't believe in such way of greeting their elderly ones. The igbos handshake their elderly ones including their parents unlike Yoruba who shows respect by falling on the ground with prostration.
There are different cultures with different perspectives when it comes to greeting their elders and this differs from culture to culture irrespective of their location.
Thanks for reading and I hope this helps.
