And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

From the sequence of creation, it is clear that the message of God to man is that of "leadership". "...And let them have dominion...". Merriam Webster, define dominion as "Supreme Authority, Absolute ownership", meaning man was created to rule! From the first to the fifth day of creation, God invested His time in creating everything that man could ever need before creating man. There is leadership in every man! There is authority in you!
We see Jesus exercised the authority of dominion in Matthew 21:18-22 when the fig tree that was supposed to bear fruit refused to be fruitful. God is not saying that we must curse every tree and animals we come across, but God is saying that He has blessed you beyond creation, God has blessed all creation for your sake, and He purposely created you in His likeness to take charge over the things He created, that is why you are in His image. You are not just you, you are bigger than you are. There's a king in you... RULE!
