After buying various silver rounds and Sovereign Coins, I promised myself that my next visit to the coin shop would be strictly for "stacking" purposes.
The absolute best way to stack is buying good old American Junk Silver.
When I go to the store these days I simply ask for $2.80 in junk silver.
Fun Fact: $2.80 in face value of American Coinage is roughly 2 ounces of silver.
I could go through the bins and pick the coins myself, and most people do, why get a worn coin when you can select a pristine coin.
I lot the random nature of just having the shop owner randomly picking out the coins. I get coins that are interesting that I probably would have not picked out.
I got three half dollars, essentially one of each kind, a Kennedy, a Franklin and a Walker.
This is a cool quarter, that is so worn that if I was picking the coins, I never would have picked as it is very worn.
This is a 1912 Barber Quarter. The Face is very worn and the date is barely legible but it is there.
The Reverse was once a proud Eagle, and now almost completely smoothed over after more than 100 years.
Also picked up a nice standing Liberty Quarter.
And last, and actually the least, three thin dimes.
I did it! I went to the coin shop and bought simply junk silver!
