I have an 1847 Half Dollar that has a bore hole in the top that indicates to me that someone wore it around their neck at some point. Whenever I pull it out I think of some soldier in the Civil War who wore it perhaps as a talisman or perhaps his entire savings.

Or perhaps it was an "ancient" treasure found under a pyramid in Ireland by a puppy?
