Any time the temperature drops close to freezing during the daytime, well its dang cold around here. And when its cold outside amazingly in a weird vortex sorta thing, its even colder in my house! At least that is my story and I am sicking to it!
So what is a thin blooded Southern Man supposed to do with Damn Yankee weather?
That's right, light a fire and drink a New England Style India Pale Ale, in a small hat tip to my Yankee brethren.
See I figure as bad as I have it them folks must be feeling like Popsicles in that "wicked" cold.
Have you ever thought about the word "Yankee"?
I know I have as it is an odd word, so odd that it does not even sound English. So I decided to give a little look up to find the origins, or in more sophisticated company the etymology, of the word "Yankee".
So this is what I found on the old interweb.
So the story goes that the folks in the Dutch Colony of New Amsterdam (now New York) did not particularly care for their English neighbors in Connecticut and referred to the whole crowd as "Jan Kees" or Yankees.
Hey, I am not calling all Yankees thieves, that title was given to them long ago by some dead Dutch Settlers.
Easy Captain! What do you expect from a Dutchman, always going on about time and money.
Besides this is a beer post made in honor of New England and their style of an India Pale Ale, and made not in disparagement!
Besides, calling Yankees "petty thieves" grossly understates their talents in those endeavors and that is truly insulting.

TRIVIA TIME!
I have a small #beersaturday tradition of asking a Trivia Question at the end of this post in sincere apologies to any who have dared to read my musings and missives thus far.
And as a reward the first person to answer correctly in the COMMENTS earns a BEER TOKEN (God willing and @beerlover is working). Otherwise everyone who gives it a go gets a full upvote from the massive wallet of
@handofzara.
QUESTION: What is the "nickname" of the State of Connecticut?
HINT: "I don't know MARGARET it all sounds NUTS to me!" And no the “Constitution State” is not the acceptable answer.
Good Luck!
And I will see y'all next #beersaturday!
