Hello Steemit community, it has been a while since i posted. I watch busy in the past few weeks in my studies so i was not able to check things up.

Today i learned a very interesting thing, it is about #science and #discoveries. I was watching a health and lifestyle channel when the topic caught my attention:

For those who don't really know what Viagra is the drugs used for men who is experiencing erectile dysfunction.
According to the news up until now Viagra is one of the most controversial and widely discussed pharmaceutical drugs to have hit the market in the last 30 years.

Viagra works by increasing blood flow to the penis so you can get and keep an erection hard enough for sex. Individual results may vary which men should be cautious

The names and status of the original inventors or the non-inventors of drugs manufactured by Pfizer are secrets that every employee of the company has to maintain. SECREEEEET?

it was discovered 1992 though. According to the article which was also featured in the health and lifestyle channel "the discovery that sildenafil could lead to an erection was an unplanned event. The sildenafil compound was originally developed by Pfizer for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina pectoris (chest pain due to heart disease). During the heart clinical trials, researchers discovered that the drug was more effective at inducing erections than treating angina. Pfizer realized ED was an unmet medical need and a major opportunity for financial gain."

That's a very interesting story
What Happened: A Welsh hamlet was ground zero for a test on a pill to fight angina. Unfortunately for the afflicted, it had little success against the disease.
Big Discovery: Though it didn't work, the men taking part in the study refused to give up their medicine.
As a Result: The scientists switched gears and marketed the drug, Viagra, for a very different purpose.

Who would have taugt that this accidental discovery would led to a big change and create a big impact worldwide. According to statistics, "Viagra had the fastest initial sales growth following its launch of any prescription product, reaching 2008 sales of close to $2 billion. Pfizer promoted Viagra and ED awareness via direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising, which prompted men to seek medical advice and a prescription from their doctors."
It is estimated roughly 30 million men in the U.S. and over 100 million men worldwide suffer from ED. A large U.S. survey determined about 50 percent of men 40 to 70 years of age experience some degree of ED.
