Football World Cup madness'
World Cup football means a different kind of madness, and as Bengalis, this madness is mixed in our blood. No matter how intense the battle on the field is, my mind always draws towards one team, that is 'Seleção', our beloved Brazil.
Today, when the World Cup is being played again all around, all the old memories are rekindled in my mind. My love for football began in my childhood. At that time, I might not have understood anything about offside or tactics. But seeing big yellow-green flags flying at the corners of the neighborhood, and hearing adults arguing about the magical football of Pele's country in tea shops, all these were the beginning of my love. I fell in love with this team after seeing Ronaldinho's magical dribbling and Kaka's great speed. The yellow-green color that was embedded in my mind has not faded even a little.
Brazilian football is not just about scoring goals or winning matches; it has a strange and beautiful rhythm, which we call 'jogo bonito' or beautiful game. Every pass on the field seems to have an artistic touch. In those childhood days, whenever there was a game, the whole family would sit together in front of the TV and scream, and when their favorite team scored, the whole neighborhood would shake with joy. Win or lose, the love for the team never waned. Our expectations skyrocket at every World Cup, and this one is no exception.
