I pray that everyone stays healthy and well at this critical time. Anyway as I said before now is the time winter, my favorite season. The only reason I don't like hot weather ha ha ha. However, one of the reasons for choosing winter is the nature of winter and all the fun food items. Because in the traditional way in winter in our country, different types of food are organized.
However, hearing a news in today's newspaper made me feel bad. That is the traditional festive atmosphere of date juice is being lost. Date juice is not available in many villages now. Every year I go to Nawabganj to eat date juice and take the opportunity to satisfy my heart by drinking fresh juice from the tree. I don't know how long this opportunity will last.
However, today I will share with you one more local and traditional dish. Although it is a winter cake, it is now available all year round. This cake is available for twelve months especially in every area of Dhaka. Because of its popularity. And this is chitai pitha, although many people call it chiti pitha. In fact, in our country, the names of many things have changed due to pronunciation.
Chitai pitha was a winter pitha. I still remember. After school closed in the winter, we would all move to the village house. At that time the festival of making this cake was going on with various arrangements. Especially coconut from the tree. Dheki used to grind rice, our house had dheki. Then in the evening I would enjoy making this cake together. At that time, cakes of different shapes were made.
Then they would soak them overnight, making juice from coconut and date molasses in between. And we all woke up in the morning and enjoyed them. Although this rule still exists. But the people of the city prefer to eat chitai pitha with various kinds of mash.
Inside the Bangabandhu Stadium complex, there are a few Chitai cake shops, whose fillings are a real exception. I almost come here to eat Chitai pitha. Because I said that their mashes are very exceptional. I eat three servings of mash together, then try to taste the cake.
After all, making chitai pitha is very easy. You can try sitting at home, because you can make this cake only with rice powder if you see the rule once. Although it is easy, I guarantee you will have fun eating the cake.
