Hectic Two Hours in the Afternoon shift! | Alive and Thriving on May 14, 2025 | Extra (HIVE + Health) Titbits
Hi there. How are you? I hope you are doing great. Welcome to my short diary for Wednesday, May 14, 2025!
I consulted 33 patients on Wednesday. However, the first two hours of the afternoon shift were quite a busy time for me! At first, two workers came with multiple cut injuries following a workplace accident. They were working with glasses. One of them had a cut injury to his left hand. Part of the skin was gone, making it not suitable for stitching. He had multiple cut injuries to his forehead, right forearm, and hand. His body was covered with tiny glass pieces! Lack of safety suits led to such cut injuries!!
At the same time, another guy came with a scalp injury. That was a somewhat crash injury. Hence, suturing wasn't required. We cleaned the wound and gave medications accordingly.
There was another guy with acute right and mid lower abdominal pain with fever and nausea. Blood and urine test results were in favor of acute appendicitis. I referred him to the higher center for an ultrasound scan. Unfortunately, ultrasound couldn't visualize the appendix. Hence, we couldn't reach any final diagnosis!
There were other patients with cold, cough, fever, headache, body pain, etc! I consulted 14 patients in those two hours!
At home, I walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes before lunch and 15 minutes after dinner. This 30-minute treadmill walk helped me do 13,471 steps (according to the Fitbit app). I had a short afternoon nap as well!

Health Titbit
Vitamin D: Are you deficient in this Essential vitamin?
Vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins that is essential for bone health, brain health, optimum immune system, regulating inflammation in our body, and many more! Exposure to Sunlight is the easiest and natural way to get this vitamin. However, vitamin D supplements are also available on the market.
A deficiency of vitamin D may present with some features. Today, we will learn some of those features that may suggest a deficiency!
Bone pain is one of the most common features seen in a vitamin D-deficient person. Along with calcium, vitamin D plays a central role in the formation and maintenance of bone! Kids with vitamin D deficiency may suffer from growth failure.
Muscle cramps and weakness are other features that may suggest vitamin D deficiency! Again, calcium plays a role besides the vitamin.
Negative mode changes such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, etc, are linked to low Vitamin D in the body!
A short video from the Cleveland Clinic highlighted some of the warning signs in short form!
