After the winter period there is a phenomenon called drifting ice! I have never see it before but this year i was ready. Do you know what it is?
Ice on the lake breaks up and start to float in the wind. At the shoreline it cant go further and it piles up because at the back its stil floating towards the coast.
Every nature photographer in the Netherlands wants to go out and shoot this phenomenon.
I left my home just a little to late to shoot the sunset so i stopt on the way to my destination and discovered this little breakwater.
And the other way around on top of this breakwater! happy i stopte here.
I parked my van at the harbor of the city of Stavoren in the afternoon to quickly scout the locations where its possible to see the ice.
It already started to become dark and the clouds and rain where not very good for photographing.
From under need my umbrella i tried to shoot the ice! my first atemped.
This location looked so prommising and the scout was good. But to bad the weather was bad, time to go to my van and get a sleep. Pictures of the next morning in my next post :)
