If you follow my blog, you know that I mostly stopped buying new silver pieces after the price hike it. But maybe the peace agreement between the US and Iran came, and the world went into at least a provisional optimism about life coming back to normal. Personally, I am the guy who mostly thinks that this temporary peace will just fuel the greedy governments that just don't care about long-term peace. But I still have some shopping once in a while.

I talked about this coin not long ago, and the price was crazy. I remember that the pre-sale was 159 CAD. and I paid with the shipping, 137 CAD from a guy in the Silver Stacker Facebook group. So with the shipping, I could lower 20 CAD from the original price. Still a salty premium, but for a piece that I wanted, not bad.

The Cave lion coin, showing Panthera spelaea , an extinct cat from the Pleistocene era, or ice age as most people know it. It is a distant cousin of our lions living nowadays. But it was larger than the lions that exist nowadays. Cave paintings have been found representing these animals, so there is evidence that early humans observed them.

The coin has a nice texture of the animal in a pine forest. This is probably the first of a new series from the Germania Mint, which I will be willing to collect if they release more. The series is minted for the country of Liberia, and the obverse also has a nice design showing a skull of a predator, maybe the cave lion itself? I can see the sharp teeth. It is a nice addition to the collection of course.

The reverse of the coin with the Cavelion attacking probably some animal.

The obverse with the design of the collection, showing Liberia's country name, year, and value.

Not sure how much silver will go down, but I will start buying more if it goes a little bit more down. And maybe I can build a bigger stack with the new low. But let's see. If it continues like that, I will continue buying occasionally. It is a good topic for me to add to a collection of prehistoric animals that aren't here anymore. Let's see how silver behaves in the next weeks of peace.
