To all the Women out there. Intl. Womens Day as a public holiday!
Celebrating Women with my Light Painting.
This is for all the women here on Hive and of course out there in the world, This is your day! Here are some roses for all the women out there. The fun part is that this floral rose arrangement was made in-camera from only one rose. See how that happened.
Since 1911 there is the concept of International Women's Day (IWD). It is a globally celebrated day to recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. For me, in Berlin, this is a public holiday and I get to enjoy the day as well. Berlin is no longer unique in this sense since Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is now the second state in Germany to make the 8th of march a holiday. Berlin wanted to equalize all the many more holidays the Bavarians get to enjoy. Most of their holidays are Christian and Berlin decided to break with that only one-dimensional thinking of what a public holiday is.
So yesterday when I went to the local grocery store I got a rose from the cashier. How nice. She probably thought I was going to give that rose to my partner. Nope that did not happen. By that time I was already spinning the rose in my head for a camera rotation Light Painting. Meaning the Rose technically did not rotate but the camere. The water would have spilled on the floor. No way. That's what happened here are all single-exposure Light Paintings. Let me show you how these were created.
What were the settings?
The images you see are 130 and125 seconds-long single-exposure time photographs. The camera was set to ISO 100 and the Laowa 12mm Zero D F2.8 Lens was set to F22. I wanted to make sure the background really sinks into the dark to make the rose sit by itself.
What - how?
It really wasn't that complicated. Just two or three sweeps with a flashlight over the sides and top of the rose and spin the crank for a few rotations and then repeat. I did not measure or think much about precision. I just did it freehand and gut feeling about the rotation.
Here is the beginning. The rose sits simply in a little bottle on a stool with black cloth. Not really complex or complicated.
Camera Rotation is what?
I just love this technique so much. As I have shared with you in so many of my posts on the topic of Camera Rotation. Yes, it is just what the name tells you. The camera is being rotated during the exposure, sometimes in steps sometimes in a continuous motion while doing so I also light up the scene.
Prinzip Kamera Rotation Light Painting?
This was tonight's Camera Rotation tool I used for these shots. This is cool because it has a crank to rotate the entire rig.
If you are interested in more of this photography technique, there is an article on my website and here on Hive as a blog post.

Here you can also find your inspirational Camera Rotation images published here on my website and here on Hive as a blog post.
I hope you found these images inspirational. If you have more questions please do not hesitate to ask. I am happy to share my knowledge.
If you think this is Spam, why did you read this far, and why the fuck bother you? Move on from your self-righteous mind state and bury yourself. Don't bother about what others may find interesting. Just stay in your bubble and ...
All there is left to say is Cheer Up!
