After some amazing quality time with my family and a Million Calories passing through my body, it's time to leave Christmas behind us and head out for New years.
It was so nice to be in the forest. Apart from the light painting, it was so nice because I wasn't alone. While I was doing the fire performance about 2 am I was looking around because I did hear something, saw something moving in the bushes, but not sure what it was. Until a fox was just standing on the road behind me watching what I was up to. When done I had to cross the river back home. The fox was always in a safe distance curious where I would go and follow me almost all the way home. That was soo cool and makes this shot extra special.
Literally, I did not burn down the Christmas tree but at least that's what I wanted to make it look like. Way too dangerous but tempting. This is a Fire Light Painting similar to what you may have seen from me in previous posts or on my website. I did use the Kevlar rod once again.
as you can see here before getting burned.
With the remote in one hand and the rod in the other. Fire up the rod, I trigger then move slowly in the shapes desired. Let the fire on the rod die out and light up the rest of the forest, then hit the Trigger again and the 88 seconds long exposure Light Painting photo is complete.
Just like always of course there are some shots where I do some test runs to get comfortable with the environment. These are two examples of how beautiful the forest looks. Even without the Fire Light Painting.
Litte wider or crop? That decision I'd rather do at home.

To publish this image I was waiting almost a year. The shot was taken already in February because there was snow. Last night we also got snow again so I may go out in the next few days if the snow continues to stay.
This year seems to be promising when it comes to snow. So I do hope I can get a few more snow photos to show off. Lets see what the weather gods are up to in the coming months.
