Hello, everyone! I spend a fair amount of time reading about technology and relationships, so a book club thread about digital dating recently caught my eye. It made me wonder how writers have explored the emotional side of conversations mediated by algorithms. I found a useful starting point in books about AI chat and online dating, then started thinking about how fiction compares with interactive AI experiences. I enjoy stories that ask whether technology can imitate connection without actually feeling it. Here in the USA, I think these discussions are worth having as chatbots become more common in everyday life.
