While I do use some subscription services, I'll always prefer actually owning what I have, but unfortunately even that is getting difficult, specially software and such, seeing as how when you buy something all you're getting is a license, a license which can be revoked at any time, something that isn't truly yours.
Physical media is my preferred way to own stuff, even if that has its downsides. When buying games I'm usually buying from places like GOG now that allow me to just keep the installer and never have to worry about DRM, unfortunately there isn't something like this for music and movies.
Sure, you can buy a blu-ray or a CD, but those are quickly going out of fashion, and it's a shame.
About housing, I've been seeing how ridiculous things are getting, specially in the US. Something feels wrong, we don't do things like this here.
Sure, bigger cities = higher prices, but it's not impossible to buy a lot and build a house for less than the price of a car in most places, it's what I'll do in 2 or 3 years, with lots going for less than $10k USD and a decent house being $10k or a little more.
Reallt scared that renting "trend" catches up to us. Landlords are practically becoming the new serfs.
