For 5 years I had not attended an anime convention.
First it was being busy, then the pandemic and then my social anxiety and fear making me stay home.
I didn't in fact plan on going to Tanuki this year, I hadn't even bought a ticket. But literally the night before my friend offered me a ticket and said he'd take care of me there. I couldn't just not accept that.
He's a dude that makes me feel safe, a true brother, and so I went.
This was Tanuki World Fest: Z Edition at SATC college in Crici煤ma/SC (Brazil) so called because the Brazilian Portuguese voice actors for Bulma and Kuririn were present, and did a fantastic job at entertaining everyone.
Hearing a legitimate Kuririn Kamehameha was... Out of this world.
And my gosh, it was fun. It was worth it.
I didn't see everyone I wanted to see, but seeing all those people, interacting with them and getting out of my shell was great.
And it's all thanks to the hot dude in blue, my old friend Kelvin from 2nd grade, who despite us drifting apart for some time, still kept in touch and is still an incredible person.
The one in the unicorn pajamas is my best friend Ildo, someone I see all the time and I knew he was going. We all stuck together until Ildo had to go back home and damn, it was way more fun than just another LAN party (those are fun too though).
I might as well share some of the photos I took with some of the cosplayers.
First of all there was this Kira Yoshikage here, he asked if I wanted to take the picture with "the hand"...
I thought he was going to blow me up and take my hand, but it was just a hand he took from a plastic bag... A plastic hand.
I told the cosplayer dad and in a very relaxed Kira-like voice they said "It can be yours if you wish".
Man, that's some dedication to the character.
This Link was looking pretty cool but didn't seem too particularly interested in being there, still a nice photo.
I had to wait for Mr. Snake here to get out of a call before taking the photo, I asked if it was Campbell, Mei Ling, Otacon or whoever else, he said it was confidential.
He promptly took me hostage and threatened my friend.
I guess after realizing we're not La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo he let me go.
And I got some cool pictures.
Then I saw Jesus walking with his friend Anya.
I knew Anya was a good character but I wasn't aware she was a saint. I HAD to get a picture of this.
And I guess Jesus is still an anime character... Steel Ball Run and Saint Young Men? Lol
This CRT was offering free hugs, and even though it only had component inputs and RCA on the back, no RGB, I still love CRTs, so I took on the offer.
The monetary aftermath was me buying this little Bucciarati figure for just R$40 ($7USD) and it's really darn cute, and I also boight some anime plaques that go really well with my desk's redecoration with all my manga.
There was also a cosplay competition, and I managed to record a Rakan and Xayah presentation from League of Legends, after that the presenter made them hug and it made my heart instantly melt. My favourite couple in gaming, right there, in front me.
Beautiful 馃ぇ馃ぇ馃ぇ
There were lots of cool stuff there. Arcade games, VR room, fighting game competitions (DB: FighterZ, Naruto, etc), so many beautiful people in beautiful costumes.
Even with the social anxiety, it felt incredible.
I loved it, every second of it. All the people I spoke to, all the things I did... Next year I'll be there again.
