Hi all,
So this is me. A 40 something male from Melbourne Australia.
I work in IT and have done for more years that I care to think about, although in a former life I worked in the operating suits of a number of different hospitals. Working in the public heath system is rewarding in many ways, but the role that I was in didn't offer many opportunities. It did give me the chance to take up a few hobbies, one of which I managed to turn into a career.
I have been playing the guitar since I was about 14. My best friends mother had a very small album collection that I think was left by her ex-husband. My friend played me a couple that happen to be Texas Flood - Stevie Ray Vaughan and Van Halen I - Van Halen. DAMN! Hooked.
Over my time playing guitar I've managed to get to a level where I know lots and lots about bits and bits. I'm hoping that I can create a blog that can consolidate this in my own head and possibly maybe help someone else.
Another bug I got bitten with sometime later was the gardening bug. I became mildly obsessed with growing food. With only a small back yard I managed to get my kids school principal on board and created a community/school kitchen garden that I looked after for a number of years before they grew up and we moved on.
SQL Server, C#, blah blah blah is what I work on for $. It's not that bad. I really do enjoy my work, but no one wants to hear about that old stuff!
So look out for post #2. Most likely about guitar, possibly gardening, and you never know... maybe ever I.T.
Thanks for having me.
David.
