My first liquidation experience with an ICO

On Sunday, I finally realized a good profit on an ICO for the first time. Not that I haven't invested in too few projects or just really shitty ones, but I tend to invest in just "really good ones", whatever you think that might mean.

tl;dr: I'm kinda hooked on ICOs now, and I think that they will become an investment alternative to really everybody quite soon.

What has happened

I wrote an article on Wysker back in January, explaining why I would invest (and I did). After all, I wanted to contribute to support the team doing some great work, even though the product isn't really anything I would use.

The entire ICO, though, didn't really go that well. There's been a lot of aspects that may have led there, but definitely one of them was the trouble around the Parity issue and lost funds, but also the resulting token sale restart at the same conditions which kinda killed the token economy. In addition, the iOS app didn't get listed on the iTunes store because of the token which hindered user growth and resulted in bad publicity.

However, the team didn't give up and kept fighting for their product and the token. The product is live and working (although I don't know about the number of users), but obviously the redistribution of tokens gave the token investors some feeling of security.

Price development

After some months, the token got listed, e.g. on Forkdelta and IDEX. While Forkdelta obviously doesn't have good liquidity, IDEX looks quite solid in that respect. Also, we can have a look at the price vs ETH:

Ok, this doesn't look so impressive, but the price is rather stable, which isn't the case with so many tokens in the last couple of months.

Utilizing the spread to sell at the upper bound of the price channel, I could make 4x on my investment. Not because of the mere price, but because I got another 100% tokens on top because the ICO didn't sell out. That way, even without a discount on the token sale, I could realize an nice gain. So I basically sold half of my tokens :-)

What's next

WYS is still not listed on coinmarketcap.com and that's a problem. To many people, CMC is the go-to resource to look up their tokens. I think that getting listed on there could give WYS quite a nice push on the demand because of the increased visibility. This, and the upcoming 2.0 release, let me keep half of my tokens to look out for a nice little profit.

The ETH that I've made with that deal I'll invest in, guess what, other ICOs.
