The game was announced about a bilion years ago and it was actually a kickstarter project. Kingdom Come is made by people from Czech republic where I live, so I was looking forward to it, but I was scared at the same time. I thought it will be another No Man’s Sky. However I am glad that I was wrong.
Unfortunatelly there was a big shitstorm before the release of the game. For example there are no black people in whole game and germany had a big issue with it...what a coincidence, this is central europe in 15th century! Or you are not able to play as a woman…The main character is son of a blacksmith and after few incidents you will join „the army“. I would love to see woman in 15th century grab a sworb and fight, unless you are Joan of Ark, but I digress. So back to the point. The game is set in historitically accurate 15th century, after the death of Karel IV. How I said before, you play as a son of a blacksmith named Henry. I don’t want to spoil much, but your parents will die and you want a revange, but you have no training at all, so you have to learn everything. The fun part is that you can’t even read and if you want to read, you have to learn it like everything else.
The atmosphere in this game is awesome. I didn’t expect this at all. I felt like I was really there and because this game is first person only, the feeling is even better, but I can get that many people don’t like first person RPGs, but this suits it so much! I don’t know how forests in other countries look like, but if you are finally able to go and explore the big open world on your own, you can go to the forest and damn…that is like I was actually in the forest by myself. I have never seen better forest in the game word. The other real thing is that you have to eat and sleep like you have to in many survival games (and in real life :( ). And you cannot eat fifty apples and thousands rabbits to heal yourself in fight, you have to go and sleep in a bed and what if you want to save a game? This is actually quite hard, you have to complete a quest or drink „save potion“ and to be honest I really don’t like this, because the game is full of gamebreaking bugs. So in order to continue, you have to load the game and guess what, your last safe is from an hour ago.
That brings me to the bad part of the game. It is buggy as hell and it is even worse, because of the saving feature. The lip sync is so bad, that Mass Efect Andromeda looks like a Megan Fox of lip sync. So yea, the game is not at the best shape, but I have seen worst. However it is still a big shame, because the story is really good and it will sink you for hours. The side quest and characters are really interesting and the world is epic! Oh and I almost forget to write about a combat system. The combat system is different here, it could be compared to For Honor from Ubisoft and it looks bad at the gameplay videos, but trust me, if you play it on your own it is one of the most interesting and rewarding combat systems in RPGs. It is not right clicking like it was in Skyrim, it has a depth.
If you are an RPG fan, you should check out this game for sure, but maybe wait for a sale or don’t..it is really good!
