As in, the more you actively search for something, the more you’ll keep searching for it, regardless of how much of it you actually have. No matter what, there will always be a need to keep searching because the one you have will never feel enough for you. So, you’ll always want more. And that places us in a bit of a conundrum. Because we have to actually ‘want’ something before we can go after it. The drive is quite important for us to get it. But no, with this realization, we might never stop going or it because we might never get enough of it. Because it won’t matter if you have millions or billions in your bank account, you’ll never feel like it’s enough. You could have so much money that you and your family can never spend it all in a lifetime, but that won’t stop you from wanting more of it. Because you get scared that the second you stop accumulating all that money, you start losing it. The same can also be said for people who thrive on their looks. If you’re always conscious about your looks and the need to look good because you feel that it’s what people use as a yardstick to rate you, regardless of what people say to you, you might never accept that you’re beautiful enough. When people say it to you, you just think they’re either teasing you or just trying to be nice. You then try to go for more, maybe a little more. A tiny tweak here and another adjustment there. They’d rather spend too much time tweaking and adjusting, they spend hours preparing and getting ready, than just doing the damn thing. There are just so many examples I could give of this topic, and you’d see what I’m talking about. I’m just trying to say that sometimes, the goals we pick for ourselves end up caging us, that even when we’ve achieved them, we keep pursuing them. Your intent could be wanting a comfortable life for your family, but when you think that is only achievable by having lots of money, you won’t mind if the search for that money compromises your time with your family. As long as they’re comfortable. And all in all, it remains that the richer we want to be, the poorer we have to feel, regardless of our net worth. The more attractive you want to be, the more ugly you have to feel. Because once you feel that it’s enough, once you admit to yourself that you have everything you need, then you’d see no other reason to keep pushing for something you have enough of.
