When you see your removable media has decreased in it's capacity. Do not panic it may be due to different reasons. Like in my case it was as a result of making a pen drive which I borrowed a bootable media, which at the end of the day still refused to install the Ubuntu O.S.
Imagine my shock when on return I was told a 14.8Gb pen drive now had 2.25mb. It was so hard to comprehend but there had to be a solution to this problem. I had no other choice but to find a solution to the problem at hand.
I went on to YouTube and found a lot of videos where the windows command prompt was used in restoring it back.
But I found a better way of doing it which just involved using a GUI rather than a terminal.
These are the steps you have to take.
2.Install it which of course would be very easy.
3.Open the installed file do not worry about
registration just click on continue without
registration.
4.Insert your removable media which should
show something like this
Now go to the power Iso menu bar and click
on tools.
On the drop down menu you will see clean USB drive as indicated by the pointer just click on it.
Select the media which you want to clean an proceed.
When complete it should show this
Go to my computer you will see the media displayed with no storage space format it to any file system of your choice.
To format right click the media and format.
It should like the above.
When it's done formatting go to my computer
and you will see your storage device restored
back to it's original size.Just like the image
below.
That should put your media back to it's original size.
The reason for the initial absence of the original space was because it was not allocated. You can check this from device manager on windows.
