Colour and a bit of colour
Close up and front on shots of the diesel locomotive that was towing our carriage along the Walhalla to Thomson line. Great fun to travel the line that was used back in the 1800's. "click the image

All Aboard
There is a great little tourist railway that runs between Walhalla and Thomson with a diesel engine and carriages running daily. The 20 minute each way trip was well worth the money and was a nice way

Beautiful Walhalla
Nestled in a river valley the small historical mining town of Walhalla has left a lasting impression on us and I am sure we will be back to soak up more of the serenity and beauty that permeates the region.

Historic buildings of Walhalla
In the small old mining town of Walhalla there are several reminders of days when the township was a flourishing mining community. The fire station is in good order and even has the old outhouse in the

Points of interest along the track
Walking along the track above the township of Walhalla in Gippsland Victoria we came across a structure which was once part of the Long Tunnel mine back in the 1800's and early 1900's. "click the

Old tramway track
We took a set of stairs cut into the side of the mountain to reach a track that gave us some great views of Walhalla from above. It was a nice way to end the day before returning to our motorhome at the

And the band played
Back in the 1800's after the band played in the rotunda I would not be surprised if the audience and the band retired to the pub across the road to discuss the music or whatever the current news of the

InsideOut Tool shed
In Walhalla this old shed seems to have all of the tools on the outside. This was another of the interesting things that we saw whilst strolling down the main street. "click the image to enlarge"

Autumn leaves
There is no better time of year to show off the beauty of trees than autumn. The leaves lose their lush green colours and take on red, yellow and orange hues. The coolness of the weather contrasts with

Buildings of Walhalla
On our evening stroll through the town, we stopped quite often to photograph and read about some of the historic old buildings as well as the sites where some were once located more than a hundred years

Walking down the main street of Walhalla one would be forgiven for thinking that you were strolling through a small English village instead of an old gold mining town in Australia. "click the image
