One scary fact I know is that soon, the earth will be uninhabitable. Global warming, natural disasters and all. These phenomenon have increased over time and in the nearest future it's going to be worse. Think of the movie 2012, it's about the destruction of the world by a large flood. It's kind of like the story of Noah in the Bible, it might sound like overkill but we keep drawing closer to an uninhabitable planet each day even scientists have confirmed that most of these disasters will only get worse thereby making earth uninhabitable.
