Parasites are organisms that which derive shelter or nutrients from another organism called a host. A parasite can live inside or outside a host. When it's inside, it's called an endoparasite, when it's outside it's called an ectoparasite. Examples of parasites are plasmodium, hookworm, lice, ticks etc.
Parasites enter the body through different means like bites from a vector like mosquito, enter through sexual contact and others enter through contaminated food or water.
Parasites posses negative effects on an individual, they are known to cause the death of their host either by direct effect by slowly killing the host, or indirect effect by releasing substances that eventually kill the host.
Parasites are responsible for some deadly diseases like malaria, Schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis that lead to the death of thousands world wide.
