I did not know that a Dogecoin dev, or the Dogecoin dev, launched another mineable meme coin that is merge mined with Dogecoin and Litecoin.
Of course it is the scrypt algo which you need a powerful asic for, so it is really not that accessible for the average miner.
Curious to see if this becomes popular, because this mineable meme, in the fashion of DOGE, has a minuscule set of features (merge mined 3 chains)
The coin, called BELLS, has several small exchanges and low liquidity.
Like it or not memes are going to be a component of crypto but almost all of them are 100 dependent on just community and narrative with no redeemable utility or additional benefit, not even as a currency.
Memecoins on their own are somewhat fine, they're a bit of fun. It's just the fact so much of crypto is memecoins and scams and that every crypto-related thread is filled with shill bots makes it so much harder for projects with real utility or innovative tech to get noticed. I'd imagine that quite a few non-crypto people see crypto as BTC and scams or BTC and memecoins and not realising that there is real utility in crypto because that real utility is getting hidden by everything else, and exchanges aren't helping to turn that around either
Anyway…I know that is not a popular topic, just my opinion after one too many coffees today
