Funnily enough, I was asking myself a similar question to the one in this post a few days ago. I was able to arrive one sketchy conclusion though and it is kinda similar to the suggestions you have here in this post.
In situations like that, I basically would do what the charts tells me to do, if I conduct analysis for an asset pair that I am currently trading and I see signs that the price movement is will soon be in an opposite direction, I might hodl or sell depending on what my chart says.
Even if on a fundamental basis there are indications that I should sell or hodl, if the charts tell me to do the opposite based on present factors I'd definitely be followign what the charts and my instinct says.
At the end of the day I believe it's all about how well an investor can read between the lines in the market.
