! [ENGLISH VERSION]
On the weekend, after an intense week of work and study, I needed to get away for a walk. I desperately needed it, I needed to vent; just like when we touch a metal surface to discharge static, I needed fresh air and contact with nature to release what I can't shout out loud.
The last few days have been crazy, with adrenaline at its peak. And though I'm not complaining, because they have been very enriching activities, I can't deny that stress was there poking its nose out in an attempt to sabotage my peace of mind. So yes, I needed to get away for a while.
Connecting with nature is telling it your worries and letting the wind carry them away. And with each breath of fresh air, it's like hearing a whisper in your ear: "Breathe, breathe, everything will be alright." And suddenly, you start to feel better, and what was overwhelming you becomes something you can also cope with; especially when they are not your own burdens but someone else's demons.
It's true that each person fights their own battles, and no matter how much we sometimes want to help, perhaps the best help is not to interfere with anyone else's process. Sometimes, not helping, helps; it helps us face personal challenges and hurdles. Sometimes, we help more by respecting the space and timing of the person fighting that battle. Sometimes, we help just by listening.
Nevertheless, what we cannot allow is for empathy to work against us, to the point of turning us into a dumping ground for other people's garbage. Without crossing that thin line, we will always have the satisfaction of having done the right thing.
