It's important to note that the AFCON was initially slated to take place in Cameroon, the current AFCON holders. But for their unpreparedness, insecurity and anglophone challenges, this right was stripped. Therefore, Egypt gets the right to host after being chosen by CAF executives Committee.
There will be a total of 24 nations in the AFCON 2019. Each, staking a claim.
