While I absolutely hated it, I did teach on and off for a few years when I lived in Thailand. It is extremely difficult to find a "real" job in ESL in Thailand and the people who can find the good jobs have the same qualifications that would be required if they were in their home country. People that just have a degree in whatever are never going to get the good jobs... this is just how things are there but what is silly is that Thailand really should know better than to think that actual qualified teachers are going to work at these awful schools for $1500 a month. It isn't going to happen.
